Cecina

Cecina is directly below Vada on the coast of Tuscany and it is interesting to see how the sand quality changes in the Marina dei Cecina. It has similar large, clean areas of beach, but the sand in Cecina is a bit rougher than that of Vada. Where Vada boasts fine, crystal white sand and aqua water, Cecina offers a shore that is beautiful but more effected by the weather. At some times in the year, a large thunderstorm is enough to change the characteristics of the sand- sometimes making it more pebbly but for the most part it consists of soft, dense sand.

In addition to its widely sought after beaches, Cecina is known throughout the world as a center of gastronomical delights and has long traditions in food reaching back to its Etruscan founders. It is directly between Livorno and Piombino on the Etruscan Coast and was home to the civilization from the 5th to the 1st centuries BC; it has remained an important hub of archaeological remains.
