World Heritage Sites in Tuscany

In 1972 UNESCO (United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organization), at the end of the General Conference launched the World Heritage Convention.

This is how the List of World Heritage Sites was born, that is to say a collection of sites of international relevance from a cultural and natural point of view. To join that List - that counts  today 936 sites "only" - it is necessary to respect certain criteria imposed by UNESCO.

Today Italy is the Country with the higher number of reported places as World Heritage Sites (they are 47: 45 cultural and 2 natural). Tuscany, with its 6 certified Sites, is one of the Region with more World Heritage Sites.

The World Heritage Sites in Tuscany are:
