Capraia

A volcanic island formed nearly 8 million years ago, Capria is now a beautiful and lush area of land that is not covered in forests like some of the others, but rather a selection of green foliage that flower during the spring and houses many species of animals and birds including a population of wild sheep- the likes of which are usually found Corsica and Sardegna. Capraia is the third largest island in the Arcipelago Toscana and has protected areas like the others but it is possible to travel and stay on this island. Its rocky landscape has no sandy beaches to speak of, but has very interesting natural coves and areas to explore- both under the sea and on land.

The sole ‘city’ construction rests on the east shore and consists of a small group of colourful houses and shops, their church, and some medieval fortresses like the Fortezza San Giorgio and towers like the one situated in their marina, called La Torre del Porto.
