The Natural Park of the Orecchiella is divided into three natural reserves including the Orecchiella, the Pania di Corfino and the Lama Rossa. All three of the denominations rest in the ‘Alto Serchio’ which is a high valley which rises above the Serchio River at its base. The area is characterized by rolling, tree covered mountains which reach 2054 meters at the highest point and as a breathtaking location to hike, bike, trek, whatever!

Countless species of plant life grow in these mountains and a great variety of wild animal life can be found living in the midst of the Beech and Chestnut tree-covered mountains. The mountains are at a very high altitude and showcase all four seasons beautifully. The park provides multiple plotted hiking trails for the enjoyment of people at every level of experience and for every part of the year but it is suggested to make the trip during the spring, summer and fall. One great benefits of this area is its low population. If you are the kind of person who loves to hike and loves to do it without much tourism around you, there are plenty of options for you.
