The climate in Maremma is mainly Mediterranean, especially along the coastal strip, even if it tends to have more continental features while proceeding inland.
Summer on the coast is moderately hot. Temperatures generally do not exceed 33°C and keep an annual average of 16°C under the action of mistral and west winds coming from the sea. Winter is not particularly cold and the mountains of Corsica and the reliefs of Elba Island are often responsible for mitigation or deviation of the eventual Atlantic disturbances. Due to this same reason rains are quite few and limited and reach the minimum on the Uccellina Mountains and on the Argentario.
Inland on the contrary, rains tend to be heavier - especially in autumn - winter temperatures can be more severe and summer often reaches a maximum temperature of up to 40°C.
Sunshine presents in this area higher annual values if compared to the national average, thus making seaside resorts able to record an average of just over 7 daily hours of sun, also thanks to the high amount of clear sky days during the year and to the distance with notable reliefs.
